Recommended system test and confirmation procedures when using a Sensaphone autodialer for emergency alarm dial out from livestock confinement facilities.

.Start an alarm test call log. Call the Sensaphone every day from a remote telephone to verify that the telephone line is connected. The log itself can be as simple as a calender by the telephone that you initial when you call the alarm.

.Start an alarm log. This can be the same calender that you are using for your test call log. Every person on the alarm dial out list must keep their own alarm log records and record  all occurrences of answering  alarms.

.Start an acknowledgment log, simply write down what was wrong (and what you did to fix the problem) at the farm when you went to respond to an alarm call.

.Start a sensor test log. Test every sensor before the system goes into service and at least once every group change. This log should be kept at the farm next to the Sensaphone.

.Start alarm dial-out list log. Log any changes to the Sensaphone set up. This can be done on the calender that is next to the Sensaphone.

.Change the Sensaphones’ batteries every January 1st.

.Create a farm map to show locations of all sensors and the Sensaphone autodialer. Indicate on the map which channel on the Sensaphone has been used to monitor each sensor. It is a good idea to show cable run locations, electrical subpanels, gas lines etc. on this same map for safety. Post the map at the Sensaphone and next to telephones of people on the alarm dial out list.

.Develop and post alarm procedures.

.Train each individual on the alarm dial out list how to respond to, and document, an alarm situation.

.Assign responsibility for this implementing this checklist to qualified personnel.

Setting up the test and documentation procedures on this list is essential. If you ever have a problem where significant losses occur the documentation you can provide may make the difference in getting a settlement out of your insurance company!
