In-Touch iButton Wedge Configurations
Every iButton has a 16 character (64 bit) serial number. This serial number is used to uniquely identify each individual iButton. This number is embedded into the iButtons electronics and must be read by any device communicating with the iButton. This serial number is also inscribed onto the surface of the iButton itself. As iButtons have proliferated, applications have utilized this number differently. The In-Touch iButton keyboard wedge can deliver the serial number in a number of different formats. When you order an In-Touch iButton keyboard wedge you must choose how you want the iButtons serial number to be displayed. If you have iButton serial numbers in a database already it is important for you to verify what format these numbers are in so you can choose a keyboard wedge configuration that will match your required format.

Together these 16 characters represent the complete serial number.
If you were to touch this iButton to an In-Touch iButton Keyboard Wedge;

• In-Touch iButton Keyboard wedge 0016-S1 will transmit these 16 characters AE0000030D45EB01
  (As displayed on the iButton and in the TMEX iButton Viewer)
  
• In-Touch iButton Keyboard wedge 0016-S2 will transmit these 12 characters 0000030D45EB
  (Strips out CRC and family code and only transmits the core 12 characters)
  
• In-Touch iButton Keyboard wedge 0016-S3 will transmit these 16 characters 01EB450D030000AE
  (This is the order it is actually read from the iButton)
  
• In-Touch iButton Keyboard wedge 0016-S4 will transmit these 12 characters EB450D030000
  (This is the order it is actually read from the iButton with the CRC and family code stripped out)
  
• In-Touch iButton Keyboard wedge 0016-S5 will transmit these 14 characters 010000030D45EB
  (Strips out CRC, starts with the family code and then transmits the core 12 characters)
